Banana Industry Advisory Committee – Independent Chair
Ms Sue White
Ms Sue White has been appointed to the position of independent chair of the banana IAC.
Background
Sue lives at Yass in southern NSW and her earlier career was in journalism/PR which developed into government roles as a Policy Advisor for government ministers (including Agriculture).Sue worked on a number of horticultural issues through committees such as Horticulture 2000 and the Citrus Industry Working Group.
In 2000 Sue was invited by Apple and Pear Australia Limited (formerly Apple and Pear Growers Association) to be their first Apple and Pear Industry IAC Chair, a position she held until 2005.Her first major task for the apple and pear industry IAC was to develop and deliver a strategic plan.
With her previous experience in chairing the IAC for a large industry, combined with extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and her intimate knowledge of the operations of government Sue is well qualified to assume the role of inaugural banana IAC chair.
